I know its old, but additional info to any place in need of it should find its way there.
the original use of the term deadstock, comes from retail warehousing and inventory. dead stock are the items that are left over either by accident or havent sold out of the warehouse/backroom/stockroom etc. these items usually maintained a place in the warehouse past its popularity, or were forgotten, therefore they were untouched unused inventory. hence the quality comparison "its deadstock" meaning "its brand new" or "never hit the floor" (as in sales floor) but the origin was in fact from what never made it out the warehouse... its actually more of way to say this is the crap left over, send it to an outlet its dead stock (its dead, not moving, taking up space etc)

-my knowledge comes from a decade in warehousing & inventory management, where the term still applies.
