...I don't even understand the post.

Because shitty rappers like BAPE you don't want to wear it?

The styles and prints those fly Asians are wearing in the photo above are readily available today.

There are also still lots of fashionable Asians that wear BAPE, it's not just corny rappers from Harlem....

You and many other "BAPE heads" are old school, first gen, OG hipsters.

Back then maaaaan, Things were so different maaaan.

Can you tell me one hot street wear/high fashion label that is not readily found online?

I can find Mastermind Japan online easier than BAPE these days.

Guess what buddy, the days of 1990's early 2000 exclusivity is gone forever because of the internet, deal with it.
I never said "because rappers wear it, I don't wear it". 90% of my closet is Bape/BBC.. I'll always love the brands for what they were in a time when they were super appealing to me.. And I won't stop buying items from that time, I just won't buy items they've released in the last few years. I wouldn't say I'm stuck in the past, I just have a super high appreciation for the brands when I first discovered them about 8 years ago.

"The styles and prints those fly Asians are wearing in the photo above are readily available today".

Yes.. this is true.. on Yahoo JP Auctions and eBay. Most definitely not on the Bape website.

Anyways, that's my two cents as far as this topic goes. It's actually nice to have some discussion on this forum, as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Both the people who say they refuse to buy anything released in the recent years, as well as people like Insane who say nothing has changed and Bape is still the hottest thing around are going about it the wrong way imo. Yes the game has changed, yes Bape has been churning out lots of stuff that is less interesting. But they still release amazing pieces, and if you're a real Ape head there's still enough left that's quality enough to pick up every now and then. No point in living in the past. At least, that's what I do.

Having said that though I am glad I could experience Bape since ~2005, because I do understand why it has much less allure nowadays than back then. Think most of us around here who still buy it are from an older generation when Bape and streetwear in general was regarded differently. I mean ffs first time I logged onto Bapetalk back in 2006 ugly hoodies were going for 400+, quality stuff for 600+ and even tees went for double retail. Think about how crazy that was.
You are describing the present day situation with Supreme.

Haha yeah, he might as well be like

"I liked it before Wayne." and just made that the post.

But those people don't even wear Bape anymore. There is always something out by Bape I like.

I haven't bought anything Bape in quite some time. I can't afford it to be honest. But I still love just getting on here and checking out all the new pieces, there's always a couple things worth while from every season if you ask me.

am I the only one who thinks this article is kind of racist?
and ASAP rocky is a true bape head, lining up for OG releases and I think was also a member on the forum but yea bape released garbage soon as they got the new yellow and green globby tag
LOL i thought that too for a bit but I think it's more about 'how it's worn'... for instance, I like the way Cudi would rock it... seemed to keep it classy... not sagging like Wayne, etc.

The amount of hate towards BAPE from it's own consumers will never cease to amaze me.

God damn, you especially bbest I remember viewing the AAPE thread months and months ago, where you in particular were calling that the death of the brand.

You type of overly negative people repulse me man, misery loves company.

BAPE quality and designs are still second to none overall in the street wear game, period, and the sales on a global scale reflect that.
Slightly confused at this statement as you joined last week or the week before.

Anyway it doesnt matter as you can either be a sheep and get upset about everything posted on the internet or be independent and form your own opinions.

So someone you dont know doesnt like it, big deal it doesnt mean anything.

Form your own decisions and if you like it buy it.

Personally it died when the US store opened as for years it was only sold in one tiny store (Hit and Run) outside Japan and then it became more corporate and had more stores.

I have been buying since the mid 90s and stopped about 5 and half years ago not because of the above but because the designs started to be recycled and weren't that good.

I remember going into Hit and Run and seeing a pair of sunglasses which looked like they were floating in mid air.

They weren't Bape had designed the package to make them look like that.

Bape nowdays is a bit like Apple as under Steve Jobs they used to innovate but now they have realized they can just put out anything and it will still sell.

If you want stuff to go back to how it was then its not a bad thing but you wouldnt have

A store in the US
People selling cheaply on ebay
A webstore
Pirate Sales
Ease of getting the stuff you want to own.

It would be cheaper but you wouldnt be able to own it as it used to be near impossible to get.

No offence to anyone who has commented.

You noticed that as well huh?

3 white guys rocking BAPE = Awesome !

3 black guys rocking BAPE = Horrible !

BAPE attracts some of the biggest hipster, anti-mainstream "maaaaaaaaaaans" in the world.

I have lurked here for months ever since bapetalk2 got closed.

Anyway, the main point that you and others seem to keep making is the exclusivity factor.

Can you point to a brand that still has it?

Seriously, just one.

Every high end streetwear brand, especially coming from Japan.

whether WTAPS, NBHD, MMJ, Visvim, BAPE, is readily available online, that's the age we live in mate.

Even with the most exclusive sneakers that get released, price? doesn't matter, amount released? doesn't matter, they are readily available online.

You and many other people on this board are living in the past.

I personally dont care its no longer exclusive and its easy to get.

For me personally, priorities changed.
I used to lurk the sales sections for goodies almost everyday.
Even dropping $550 on a Salmon PONR.

Then one day I woke up and looked at my collection and realised that shit theres close to $3000 right there. $3000 I could've spent on a decent car or helped out my parents.

Now, I have a daughter and she's No.1.

However, my declining interest in Bape started around 2011, around the time Bape was bought by IT. The purchase didn't phase me, it was more the releases that followed.
Many have already posted here that designs are weak and often re-used.

But what really annoyed me was when I went to the Pirate stores in Japan and they have nothing. fuck all.
and not only that, they were expensive and only the last seasons' items.
I bought a pair of roadstas that i've only worn three times only because I didn't want to leave empty handed.
Should've spent that 8000 yen on a pair of nikes from the nike outlet across the way from the pirate store....
