I have just recently came across this site and joined up right away. I have been dealing with buying and selling of real Bape stuff for a while now in HK, now i am working in conjunction with the Bapeshop that just recenly opened here. For future reference, i only deal with Authentic stuff and am against "Fapes" like everyone else here.
Anyway, here is THE TRUE STORY ABOUT FAPES.
(i have done extensive research on this over the course of 2 years)
- Fapes are produced all across mainland china, mainly Guandong and Shenzhen
- YOU CAN'T STOP FAPES, it is nearly a billion dollar industry.
- Fape producers are government protected, you cant touch them, i cant, nigo cant.
- These area of china have economies based SOLELY on the production of counterfiet goods.
- Fapes come in a variety of quality. Most you'll come across are crap, SOME, like thos i JUST saw in singapore in a shop are
SHOCKINGLY similar and i didnt even realize they were fake until i bent the outsole and noticed it was a LITTLE bit more flexible than it should have been.
**HERES THE SCARY PART**
- Theyre getting better.
- The build quality, colour matching, stitching, accuracy of the boxes, everything.
- The chinese suppliers are going online! This makes fapes cheaper and more accessable than ever.
***SPOTTING FAKE BAPE***
Shoes.
Here are some VISUAL signs of fake Bapesta shoes.
- Firstly, the crisscross pattern of the lacing in the picture is how fapes come from the factory. Real Bapes come laced properly.
- Always check the paint quality on the bottom of the shoes. Real Bapes have a SEAMLESS line across the bottom of the shoe, cheap fakes are usually smeared.
IF YOU ARE EVER UNSURE: Use my flex test.
- Real bapes and air force ones (bapes big brother) are SOLID when squeezed horizontally (that is, trying to squeeze the right and left side of the outsole together) i mean that have NO give.
- Fapes will fold like butter. Its as simple as that.
Clothing.
This is where it gets tricky. The clothing is ALWAYS up to date and nearly perfect. Just try to remember this:
- YYX or whatever zipper markings = cheap fake.
- Tags mean nothing, i have a framed collage of FAPE tags in my den right now (which i purchased for 10 cents US per tag!)
- Chinese Fape clothing has a problem with clothing being DIRTY AS HELL. random stains, pen marks and god knows what else somehow end up on them. So if you get the package and the shirt is dirty, just send it back.
****REMEMBER****
- Fapes come with hanging tags, bape bag, all proper tags and just as good quality as the original (i hate to say) so don't pretend to be the expert and assume things are real becuase they "have the bee". Some of this stuff could have Nigo fooled, so always check with the seller and make sure he's legit.
*Prices*
Just for fun, here are the prices I have paid when buying fape directly from the manufacturers (for testing and comparing, not wearing.....f that!, lol)
Marvel comic shoes (6$ US) i kid you not. (with proper case and 2 pairs of laces)
Milo Hoody ($10 US)
Milo Tee ($5)
Anyway, I Hope this will help some of you guys out when looking online for some real Bape. If you have any more questions or comments, post up or pm me.
Thanks,
James
